After nerve-racking pitch and gruelling couple of months of work, Hugo Urban Rules, the branded content campaign created by Hubbub is finally kick-starting, so first huge kudos for Anna and all the girls and boys at hubbub for really amazing work.
The campaign encourages young and talented rappers and urban acts to submit a demo to the micro site (www.hugofragrances.com). A pannel of well known artists will choose the best acts and invite the winners to a professional workshops in London, Manchester and Birmingham where they will have the opprtunity to sharpen their acts. One winner will then be selected from each workshop to release a track, go on a tour and perform with the likes of Sway, Terry Walker and Scratch (Roots). MTV is going to document the whole process and create a programm to be broadcast on MTV UK and MTV Base.
I like this project because it follows the idea that if you want to participate in a culture or scene (in this case Hugo wants to get a salience in the urban scene/culture) you have to enrich that scene. And this project is not just another piece of branded content but one which nurtures the scene by supporting young talents and giving them a dream oppotunity to learn from the best and possibly get their lucky break.
So if you got the talent, can sing like Shakira, can shake your ass like Beyonce, rap like Dr. Dre and ready to take the urban scene by strom…this is your chance….
