I’ve been Poked!

Today is my first day at Poke and I can’t tell you how happy and excited I am.

If anyone still needs a proof for the immense benefits of blogging, tell them this story:

Iain [who is one of the partners at Poke and the man behind the excellent crackunit blog] and I, while never met in person until recently, were what you can call ‘blog buddies’ - reading and enjoing each other’s blogs, occasionally commenting and linking etc. So when I realised I’m on the job market, Iain was the first person I dropped an email to as I always thought of Poke as the kind of place I’d like to get myself into. In a bizzare coincidence I was on his radar as well and so 2 weeks later and a couple of chats with the other partners and here I am at this fantastic agency.

In short - my blog got me the gig at Poke.

No CV’s, no recruiters, no ‘interviews’ - nothing of that old school stuff. It’s actually quite amazing how well you get to know a person from reading his/her blog…

Thank you Iain, Nick, Peter, Nicolas, Simon and Tom for the very warm welcome.

Poke

Congrats. Hope it goes really well. Guess you’ll now have to compete with each other over who has the best Poke blog!

    Asi,
Seems like there have been quite a few announcements worth congratulations on your blog lately! Congrats again ! ! !

It is indeed a very nice “new school” way to find a job. Things are changing… and I think this particular direction is good, because it is linked to what people really are and really can do. No CV could ever describe your personality and talent as well as your blog did.
