Calls May Be Recorded dot Com

Having bought a flat recently and completely renovated it, I had to interact with roughly 70 different functions - from council tax to energy supplier, from broadband to loft insulation, from kitchen appliances to rubish collections, home deliveries, couriers and so on and so forth.

In the past 6 months I’ve interacted with sales and customer service representatives (on and offline, in-store and over the phone) on a daily basis.

I’ve made a conscious decision not to contaminate this innocent blog and it’s readers with my rapidly growing poisonous stomach but in close social circles our dreadful stories were served on a weekly basis… some stories are truly difficult to believe.

Let me just say that on average, customer relations and services here are f**ing appalling.

‘Unfortunately’ is the most common phrase I’ve heard over the phone in the past months.

Thats why I was thrilled to see this website today, which is all dedicated to giving consumers a platform to rant and share their stories. You can simply tell your stories or call/skype in the ‘rant’ line but the brilliant leap is the “My call is being recorded too” function - you can now record your calls as well, quickly convert them into an MP3 file and post it on the site.

It might not change things in the short run but taking it out of your chest and sharing it with people is very cathartic and can definitely ease the pain. And in the long run, if this site will become (and I truly hope it will) the #1 destination for shaming companies for their customer services and dreadful personal stories will start floating above the surface just like this one that made it to every cable channel in the USA, than the future is bright and companies and corporations will learn to better their hideous customer service.

Amen.

hi asi…here in india we may be a cycle or two behund in digital…actually ironically the technology is there, but the psychology of the advertisers and advertising folks is a lot TV centric…

my agency is trying it’s bit to ‘go digital’ in a big way! I might have a role in the ‘new digital life of the agency’…since you are working for a new media/ digital agency…i am very curious to know what are the essential differences in people/ talent, processes( the way you work) and the general world-view towards communication between a ‘normal-agency-as-we-knew’ and a digital-new-media-inclined’ agency…

love to chat with you on the subject…mannsinha@gmail.com
