yes, i’m back on facebook

I’m saving this dish for the occasion of me starting twittering (;-)) but after my so-long-facebook-drama-queen-post I thought I ought to explain why I’m back there….

Well, to start with, it’s not secret (to me) that I’m sometimes a bit hasty to form a judgment. But, to my defence when I first went on facebook, it was mostly with colleagues from the office and the plannersphere and it was all, as i wrote back then, mostly about poking and spanking and zombieing and I really couldn’t see the point.

But since then, I realised that I was simply ODing on facebook-nonsense and, yes, how brilliant this tool is to get some access, and be in touch with people I know and like but for obvious reasons cannot really stay in touch via other communications channels. Simply put, facebook is brilliant in maintaining friendships of the second and third circles (and forth and fifth). With my close friends I’m in touch via email and phone etc, but having moved from Israel first, and then from the academic world to the real world - I’ve got dozens of people that there is no other way for us to stay in touch and keep ‘participating’ in each others’ lives without facebook (ambient intimacy anyone?) and thats the power of it. It lets you effortlessly stay in touch with people whom otherwise you’d loose contact with.

Finally, doing what I do for a living I simply cannot not be where millions of people, friends and colleague are at the moment and it surely looks like facebook, rather than being a web-fad is here to stay and it’s only going to get bigger and better.

So, yup. I’m back on facebook and the first thing I did was joining the group: “fuck off… I don’t want to be a pirate/vampire/werewolf/zombie”

See you there.

    That’s the spirit Asi :)

I was hoping you’d return, and resume your officer duties at the Plannersphere group. The only thing is, I have no idea what those duties are.

I’m going to send you a Zombie request in a minute.
