3 insights to start the year with

Hello 2008.

The pressure of writing the first post of the new year have left me wordless but I now have enough experience to overcome this ‘can’t think of anything interesting to write’ syndrome by simply writing about the very first thing that touched me this morning. Try it sometime - there is always this moment in a day that we encounter SOMETHING - an article or photo in the paper, a person in the street, a random thought….anything that catches your mind/eyes/ears and take you slightly out of your morning numbness.

Thats what you should write about and I promise it will instantly lift you out of your blogger’s-block misery ;-)

So today I treated myself to the warm and cosy public transport (rather than scootering to work) and on my way I’ve read the absolutely fantastic The Economist’s special xmas double issue where I stumbled upon an item on Evan Williams the founder of Blogger and Twitter who shared 3 interrelated insights:

First, that genuinely new ideas are accidently stumbled upon rather than sought out. Second, that new ideas are by definition hard to explain to others because words can express only what is already known. And, thirdly, that good ideas seem obvious in retrospect.

Nice innit?
