My Week in Media

by asi

Thanks Domsky for tagging me so without further delay I’ll go straight to the point.

What I’ve read:

Apart from my regular weekly dish which comprises the Guardian (I cannot disagree with you more Dan), The Economist, my blogworm feed, and the NYT supplement that comes with the Observer, I skimmed through the Monocle and wasn’t much impressed. The book I’m reading currently is Lady Chatterley’s Lover. I was in a mood for a classic and I immensely enjoy the occasionally ridiculous sex scenes. It’s fascinating to read such a brilliant male author describing a female orgasm with what can only be considered today as sheer ignorance. Thank you Doris Lessing for illuminating my reading to other themes of this book.

What I’ve watched:

Well, I hardly watch TV (apart from the occasional Friends reruns) and the only thing I’ve watched this week was the always brilliant Louie Theroux’s trip to a hardcore US prison. The height of this documentary was when he softly challenged an ex-Nazi prisoner on his current romantic relationship with a Jewish transvestite…

Although it was last week, I highly enjoyed Lust, Caution – Ang Lee’s fascinating political thriller that takes place in Japanese occupied Shanghai.

What I’ve listened to:

oohh…where to start….. I’m very impressed with the flood of good stuff thats coming out of Gothenberg at the moment (check out 2 and 3 on the list below). Here’s a list of goodies from this week’s audio diet:

Bella – No One Will Know
Hot Chip – DJ Kicks
The Tough Alliance – New Chance
Salem Al Fakir – This is Who I am
Imani Coppola – The Black & White Album
