Wow, I can’t remember when was the last time that a metaphor and a piece of drawing resonated so hard with my feelings. It’s something that I’ve been thinking about quite a lot in the past year as I think that this is genuinely a new psychological state of mind that has been developed in direct relation to the 2.0 revolution.
In our current information age, where everyone has the ability to create and publish/distribute information (blogs, music, videos, entertainment), the web become a firehose spewing content at uncontrollable pace. Trying to keep up with the spewing water is practically impossible and can result in occasional frustration. While I”m reading over a hundred blogs, and digesting 2-4 new music albums a week, keeping up with good videos and trying to read some good old books as well, I’m constantly feeling that I cannot keep up with the pace.
I honestly cannot remember when was the last time I felt clearheaded and at rest or said, “yup, I’ve had enough”. Obviously when I’m on holiday I switch off etc but there is a general constant feeling that there is way more stuff out there than you’ll ever be able to consume.
I highly recommend to read this fantastic post from Bill Fenwick (blogger) & Drue Kataoka (artist who drew this lovely drawing)
Cheers B.L for the link

Thanks for the shout out. I, too, was bowled over by Drue’s drawing. The combination of such a traditional method with such an of-the-moment topic is what made it resonate for me.
I agree that there’s always “more” we could read, learn, do online and it is a bit overwhleming at times. But mostly, it’s incredibly exciting and the best thing about being so involved in it is the great people we get to meet. :>)

(who also did a great post). I’m glad that the post and the image struck a responsive chord. In the meantime, good luck with keeping up with the pace of information spewing from the media firehose!!
