UPDATE 1st June 2010

Hello, I’m Asi. Thanks for stopping by.

In June 2010 I’ve gone my own way as a freelance strategic/creative consultant and founded Bench & Friends. Site and stuff coming sometimes soon (but don’t hold your breath). In the meantime, if you’re an agency or a client and you think you could use my help with everything comms strategy, creative planning, all things social etc. please do get in touch.

Good luck, me.

UPDATE: Feb 2009

After two and a bit most amazing years at the Poke towers I’ve recently moved and I’m now the head of HyperSocial which is part of Hyper, which is part of the Naked group. (Sounds complicated? it was for me too but it’s not that complicated, really.)

At HperSocial I’m trying to help my clients to better understand ‘the internets’ and emerging social environments. I’m particularly keen on helping them to be more emphatic and social and generous so they can build real, permanent and sustainable relationships with the people who care about their products or services.

I truly believe that social media is contributing to a significant change that take us from what Richard Binhammer from Dell call the “traditional, rational, objective, institutional” perspective to a more “subjective, emotive, personalized and human” perspective. And brands that will get that, will kick some serious ass in the very near future.

There are some more details in the older version below.

Very best

A.

———————–
Following a short visit on Easter 2000, I fell in love with London and decided to come back as soon as possible. Three months later I arrived back to do my MSc which somehow evolved into a PhD in social psychology. It dealt with the notion of ‘Taking the Perspective of the Other’, that is, our ability to put ourself in the place of another, or to see the world throught the eyes of another. (my thesis can be download from the blog)

Towards complition of my thesis, I started asking myself ‘what do you want to do when you grow up’? At some point I realised that concerning my passion to people, culture and communication, planning/strategy can be a ‘great match’ and so I started to hassle every head of planning in town.Luckily, before i managed to make any of them to drop everything and hire me, I realised that although I’m a sucker for good advertising, the right place to kick start my career in the field of markrting and brand communication is digital/new media, and so I ended up as a planner in Grand Union, a briliant digital/new media full service agency. I strongly believe that brand communication should revolve around the principles of dialouge, participation, enrichment and fun.
I recently moved to Poke, arguably the most amazing agency in the world so I’m in the process of re-inventing myself from a Notting Hill wanker to a Shorditch twat…must get a skinny jeans…(Now seriously Poke have the most brilliant people I’ve ever met)
I use this blog to overcome my cynicism, and to record and document my personal and professional development. That is to say, rather that exhausting my Sheira and my friends with my wearisome rambling brands, new media, marketing communications, web 2.0, consumer-generated-content, age of engagement, bla…bla…bla…or any other thoughts that cross my mind- I will do it here in this blog.
Everything that is written here is my own and do not necessarily represent those of the agency.

Feel free to comment and email me if you have something interesting to say.
